Michael Godwin

Michael is an advisor with The Benefit Company.  Passionate about challenging the status quo of our broken healthcare and health insurance system, Michael leverages alternate/self-funded solutions, population health management strategies and data analytics to deliver a sustainable, successful multi-year employee benefit strategy to our clients.

Michael also leads our Owner & Executive Strategies practice group.  In this role, he consults with owners and senior management of successful companies to plan for the tax-efficient growth, protection and transfer of business and personal interests.

Prior to joining The Benefit Company, Michael spent 11 years with a national insurance company where he was a member of a specialty planning group focused on executive benefit planning for large public and private companies.

Originally from Greensboro, NC, Michael attended the University of Georgia, graduating with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance.  Upon graduation, Michael entered the insurance business, following in the footsteps of his grandfather who started an insurance agency in Eastern North Carolina in 1952.  The agency is still going strong under the leadership of his uncle and cousin.

Michael and his wife live in East Cobb, where he enjoys being a father to their young daughter and son. In his spare time Michael enjoys coaching and mentoring kids through his involvement with Upward Sports. As the holiday season rolls around, Michael leads TBC’s participation in Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child, delivering gift boxes to children in need across the globe.
