Your Service Helps Transform Lives

Atlanta Community Food Bank

It’s true.  Giving your volunteer time to help others transform lives including your own!  I think giving your time is a gift and the epitome of the golden rule.  In simple terms, the golden rule is an ethic of reciprocity.  We are all connected.  We should be respectful and grateful for our community.  We should help one another, especially in times of need.

Today, there are people living with food insecurity all around us.  It could even be your neighbor and you don’t know it.  Food insecurity may be a social condition with limitations to healthy food but also an economic one.  Our life sensitivity to inflation reaches all communities.  Having access to healthy food sources is a broader concern for more than we may realize.

It was an honor to volunteer at the Atlanta Community Food Bank recently.  I was joined by my fellow volunteer colleagues from the Women Atlanta Growth Group (WAGG) and other corporate organizations.  The Atlanta Community Food Bank operation is so well organized, super clean, and really fun.  I was proud to see the high caliber of donated food items that we helped sort for distribution.

If you have not had the experience yet, I highly recommend it.  Corporate giving does not have to be monetary. It can be the gift of your time!  Employers don’t forget allowing community service volunteering is a wonderful low-cost employee benefit.
